Eclipse Partners with Autotronics for Advanced ECU Testing and Repair

Autotronics

Eclipse Partners with Autotronics for Advanced ECU Testing and RepairAt Eclipse, we’re pleased to announce a new partnership with Autotronics, making them our preferred partner for commercial vehicle ECU testing and repair.

Autotronics is the first company in the UK to invest in the state-of-the-art Jaltest ESB – a cutting-edge ECU simulation and testing platform. This partnership allows us to offer fleets a smarter, more cost-effective alternative to ECU replacement, backed by industry-leading Jaltest technology.

This new service officially launched in January 2026, meaning that fleets can now start planning to take advantage of a faster, more economical approach to ECU failures.

Why ECU repair makes sense for modern fleets

Electronic Control Units (ECUs) are critical to today’s commercial vehicles, managing everything from engine performance and emissions to safety and braking systems. When an ECU fails, vehicles can be taken off the road instantly – often leading to expensive replacement costs.

New commercial vehicle ECUs frequently cost thousands of pounds. In comparison, professional ECU repair and remanufacturing typically costs hundreds, delivering substantial savings while restoring the unit to full working order.

For fleets, ECU repair offers:

  • Lower repair costs compared to replacement
  • Reduced vehicle downtime
  • A more sustainable approach by extending component life

Rather than automatically replacing a failed ECU, repair provides a practical and reliable alternative.

Using Jaltest Diagnostics to identify ECU faults accurately

Before an ECU is removed, it’s essential to confirm that the unit itself is at fault. Jaltest Diagnostics software plays a key role in this process, allowing technicians to communicate directly with vehicle ECUs, read fault codes, and analyse live data.

By using Jaltest diagnostics:

  • ECU-related faults can be identified with confidence
  • Unnecessary parts replacement is avoided
  • Fleets can make informed repair decisions

Once an ECU fault is confirmed, the unit can then be sent to Autotronics for specialist testing and repair.

Eclipse Partners with Autotronics for Advanced ECU Testing and RepairHow the ECU testing and repair process works

The ECU repair service has been designed to be clear, efficient, and dependable:

  • Diagnosis – Jaltest Diagnostics is used to confirm the ECU fault on the vehicle.
  • Testing – The ECU is sent to Autotronics and tested on the Jaltest ESB simulation bench.
  • Repair or remanufacture – Faulty components are repaired or replaced where possible.
  • Validation – The ECU is re-tested using Jaltest ESB to confirm the fault has been resolved.
  • Return – The repaired ECU is returned ready for refitting.

Typical turnaround times are 2–4 days, helping fleets get vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible.

The role of the Jaltest ESB ECU simulation bench

The Jaltest ESB is a powerful ECU testing platform that allows Autotronics to simulate real vehicle conditions outside of the vehicle itself. This enables thorough testing, accurate fault identification, and reliable confirmation that repairs have been completed correctly.

Importantly, Jaltest ESB doesn’t just diagnose issues – it confirms the repair has worked. This gives customers peace of mind that their ECU has been tested using the same advanced technology trusted by workshops worldwide.

With Jaltest ESB, Autotronics can cover most ECU brands and models used across commercial vehicles, making the service suitable for mixed fleets. (A full coverage list will be available shortly.)

What happens if an ECU can’t be repaired?

The service is designed to be transparent and fair:

  • No Fault Found – A £70 + VAT testing fee is retained, with the remaining repair cost refunded.
  • Beyond Economical Repair – If the ECU cannot be repaired, the full repair cost is refunded.

This ensures fleets only pay for work that delivers genuine value.

An opportunity to recover value from old or stored ECUs

Many fleets have ECUs that were removed in the past and written off as permanently failed. In reality, a large number of these units can be repaired and returned to service.

By sending stored or discarded ECUs to Autotronics for testing, fleets can rebuild spare stock at a fraction of the cost of buying new units – providing a valuable backup when unexpected failures occur.

A smarter way to manage ECU failures

By combining Jaltest Diagnostics, the Jaltest ESB ECU simulation bench, and Autotronics’ specialist repair expertise, fleets now have access to a smarter, faster, and more cost-effective solution to ECU failures.
