Download folder clean up
1. Navigate to the file explorer on your device
2. Once in file explorer on the device, delete anything that is not the latest software version. This will have ‘date modified’ to help and also the name of the latest software version.
3. Select the files that are not relevant and delete them with the bin icon
Eclipse folder clean up
1. Navigate to your local disc (C:) through the file explorer
2. Within this, select the “Eclipse” folder and then the “software“ folder. (If this folder isn’t there, this section can be skipped.)
3. Within the “software” folder everything can be deleted as it will not be relevant if we are updating the software.
Disk clean up
1. Go to the Windows search bar in the start menu and type “disk clean up”.
2. Once in select the “clean up system files” button and let it gather Information on files it suggests to remove.
3. You will then need to tick to select all the files in the list to delete and click ok to start the process. Once completed it It the disk clean up screen will disappear.
Software Distribution clean up
1. Navigate to your local disc (C:) through the file explorer.
2. Then, once open, you will need to select “Windows” and then the “software distribution” folder.
3. Then you will need to go to the “Downloads” folder and select all items and delete them.
Restore Point clear
1. Search in Windows search for “create a restore point” and select “create a restore point”.
2. Once open, you will need to select “configure”.
3. On the next window, you will then need to make sure it’s set to “Disable system protection”.
4. Then, below that, the slider for “max usage” needs to be set to its lowest point it can be on the device. All the way to the left-hand side. Then select “apply”.
5. Then you will need to click “delete” and ok to complete the process.
Temporary files folder clean up
1. You will need to right-click on the Windows key and select “run” or search “run” in the Windows search bar.
2. In the “run” box, then search “%temp%”
3. Once in the “temp” folder, you can select all files and delete all that is in this folder. FYI, there may be some you need to skip deletion of.
Old driver uninstall
1. Windows search “control panel”
2. If available, you will then need to find if there is any called “Surface Pro……..update”. It will vary depending on the model of device, it will look like below and be between 2-4GB in size
3. Once selected, click to “uninstall” it.
